"Coy"

Of Fears & Memory

Artist Alina Poroshina examines cultural memory in her latest series of work focused on the Armenian Genocide of 1915. In “Of Fears and Memory,” Poroshina reflects on how the atrocities committed in 1915 have been encoded into her own Armenian heritage through figurative paintings that she describes as Expressive Realism.

Opening reception Sunday, August 4, 2-4 p.m.

Frances Farrand Dodge (1887-1969) was a recognized artist of the arts and crafts movement. Her work largely consisted of etchings, but she also worked in oil paint and watercolor. Her work has been collected by many museums, including the Cincinnati Museum of Art and the Smithsonian. This exhibit will feature works from the personal collections of the artist's family.

Kate Paul, owner of Paul Studios, LLC in Livonia, presents an exhibit of individual self-discovery. Paul creates her own mythology and looks to express the magic of what it feels like to be alive through her work with acrylic, oil, and ink on canvas.


Museum hours: Wednesday - Saturday 12-4 p.m. and the 1st Sunday of each month 2-4 p.m.
